How to PDF Booklet with PrivaTools

  1. Upload a PDF — Drop a PDF up to 500 MB. The page count is automatically padded to a multiple of 4 with blanks if needed.
  2. PrivaTools reorders pages for saddle-stitch — For an 8-page booklet, the output order is 8,1, 2,7, 6,3, 4,5 — so when printed double-sided and folded in half, the pages read in sequence.
  3. Download and print double-sided — Print the result two pages per sheet, double-sided, then fold in half. You get a perfect-bound booklet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the order so strange?

Saddle-stitch binding folds the sheets in half — the front cover of sheet 1 carries pages 8 and 1, the back carries pages 2 and 7. The math is fixed by binding geometry.

What if my page count isn't a multiple of 4?

PrivaTools pads with blank pages at the end before computing the imposition order, so the booklet always works.

Can I use this for thick books?

Saddle-stitch caps at about 80 pages (20 sheets) because the inner pages start to creep. For longer documents use perfect binding (no imposition needed).
